Dear Fikret, I am so grateful to you. Your hikes have clearly been the highlight of my stay in Bosnia-Herzegovina. There are too many to mention, but climbing Monte Negro’s highest peak (Bobotov Kuk), followed a few weeks later with Bosnia’s highest (Maglic); the latter on an absolutely marvelous day with a terrific group of seasoned hikers, such as Kate, are two trips that readily come to mind. And, of course, trudging through meter deep snow with Dorothee, her sister and, naturally the sweet and indefatigable canis domesticus, Sura, to reach the serendipitous hot soup and freshly made bread at Stanari Hut on Bjelasnica, will be a never-forgotten Christmas Day. So too will I fondly remember the aggressive hike that you, I and Patty’s young but mature bodyguard did to Cvrsnica. The so-called “soft” hikes, a characterization which always amuses your hikers, were equally enjoyable for the peaks, ridges, valleys and villages visited and the company Your skill as a climber, hiker and guide are apparent but what makes you unique is your knowledge of Bosnia’s mountains and, more importantly, the respect and love you have for them and for the natural world. You are a man of character and integrity on top of all of this, so the pleasure in knowing you has been mine. Dear Fikret, we are so impressed by your web site and the pictures take us back to when we used to come along on your hikes. We remember well our first hike with you to Trebevic in May 2001! Even though that was a foggy day with almost no sight, more like the one we experienced at Galdhoepiggen in June 05, we got the impression this was an outstandlingly beautiful place. And when we came back to Trebevic on a sunny day the year after with champagne in our backpack to celebrate our one year anniversary as a hiking group, we really got to see how beautiful it was. Posebno ne mogu zaboraviti kada smo bili na Maglicu i nismo nista mogli vidjeti zbog magle - it it si mi pricao kakav je pogled i koje planine bi se mogle vidjeti.
